Jeffry McCune is a car salesman and an old friend of mine. He lives in Burlingame. I rarely see him, but noticed the other night his car was home and he had mentioned some kind of “train thing” when I talked to him a few weeks ago. His front door was open. So I thought I would say hi and find out more. Lo and behold he has a giant Lionel train set actually screwed to his living room floor. Screwed, I said, right through the carpet!  Tracks are everywhere and trail back through the dining room and back further into a room beyond that. Five or six separate trains - passenger, freight, farm cars and tankers. Little village scenes tucked here and there and a miniature Ford car dealership. (He manages a Lincoln-Mercury dealership) I was amazed and asked him if I could bring my grandkids to see it the next day, as long as they would look only and not touch. He said sure, and he could fix anything they could break anyway. So next day my son and I picked up his four year old twins at school, went shopping at Costco, then home for dinner. We were bribing them to be on good behavior by talking about the "special thing" to see after dinner. They were spellbound. My grandson especially (the other twin is a girl) He could not take his eyes off of it. It was very fun. And we are welcome back whenever our time zones match up.
